Crystal Film (series)

Crystal Films situates the contemporary electronic screen within the longer material history of cinemal creating a repository for fleeting image loops from Orson Welles great film, The Lady from Shanghai, 1947. This personal archive take the images out of cinema, but preserves and gives us access to them as memory.

cast glass over video

2026

The series consists of wall-mounted works in which cast glass sculptures are placed directly over video screens. The glass is cast from digitally generated, 3D-printed forms, translating computational structures derived from lens making into solid, light-bearing objects. Acting as lenses and filters, the glass bends, compresses, and fractures the moving image beneath it, recalling early cinematic moments when projection relied on the precise alignment of optics, surfaces, and light. The screen is treated as momentarily arrested—its flow of images held in suspension, as if preserved in amber.
