“Ghost Ship” plays upon and automates the low tech special effects of childhood created by making shadows on the wall. In contrast to the special effects we find in movies, augmented reality, and virtual reality, nothing in the installation is simulated, but rather everything is laid bare for the viewer. The McCoys often use electronics to create special effects in real space, creating live animation out of everyday objects and machines.
